FAQs for Parents
Can my child bring a phone?
We feel that a stay at The Towers is a great opportunity to socialise with others and develop new relationships. The use of phones tend to detract from this. The lead teacher from your child's school will decide if they are allowed to bring phones and when they can be used.
Which activities will my child take part in?
We decide on which activities groups will take part in each morning. This decision is based on weather conditions, group aspirations and ability. More information about activities can be found here.
My child is a fussy eater/ has an intolerance. Will that be a problem?
We get great feedback about the quality of our food. Ingredients are locally sourced when possible and Zak and Sian are very good at catering for individual dietary needs. Food is usually brought to the tables on serving platters and then the children choose what they want. This means that there will always be something that the children like.
Breakfast: Cereal, toast, cooked breakfast.
Lunch: The children make their own packed lunch which consists of a roll with their choice of filling, fruit, crisps and home made cake.
Dinner: Examples are lasagne, curry, chicken pie, spaghetti bolognese. To finish there is always an option to enjoy a delicious pudding.
What is the daily routine at the centre?
Breakfast is served at 8.30am. After breakfast students have time to make lunch. We then ring a bell to call everyone to the common room to organise the days activities. Each group will meet their instructor and at this point a plan for the day will be explained. Students then have some time to get organised and we meet ready to go out and have an adventure. We aim to arrive back at the centre after activities at approximately 4.30pm. There is then time for showers and a little free time. Dinner is served at 5.30pm. Evening activities happen between 7.00-9.00pm and then it is up to the visiting teachers to decide a bed time.
Does my child need money?
We have a souvenir/tuck shop on site. Most teachers open the tuck shop once during a week at The Towers. The teacher in charge of your child's visit will let you know a maximum amount they should bring.
Can my child bring a camera, tablet, or any other electrical equipment?
Items such as cameras and hair dryers are not a problem. We discourage devises which will limit your child's social interaction with others, such as gaming devises. It is your child's responsibility to look after any personal items so many parents decide these items should be left at home. Each activity group will have a camera which the teacher can use to take photos.
