There are so many options available during a stay at The Towers we found it difficult to allocate courses to different sections of the website! This section is for all those courses that span a variety of sections and to highlight that we are always happy to have a chat with you and make individual plans.

Outdoor programmes

  • Special educational needs: We have a fantastic and long-standing relationship with the Gateway club in Wolverhampton for whom we arrange residential and activity breaks. We are always happy to discuss options for groups who wish to use Snowdon, our accommodation unit for people with mobility difficulties.

  • Field Studies programmes: We can help you bring subjects to life in a fun, engaging and practical way. Field Studies are ideal to offer pupils an opportunity to gain 'hands on' experiences to support their studies. We are able to offer courses to support all curriculum areas but specifically Geography and Biology. We find combining field studies programmes with an adventure element is particularly successful. For example, studying a river from source to sea by gorge walking, canoeing and kayaking.

  • National Governing Body Awards: We are able to offer a variety of training and assessment opportunities in a variety of awards such as Single Pitch Award and Mountain Leader (summer) Award.

  • John Muir Award: In partnership with the John Muir Trust, The Towers provides courses that lead to all levels within the award framework. This can be run in conjunction with any course. The John Muir Award is an environmental award scheme that encourages pupils to connect with, enjoy and care for wild places through a structured yet adaptable scheme.

  • Prospective leader visits: We are happy to arrange a visit to help you understand what The Towers has to offer and help you plan your course.

  • Breaks for teachers and leaders: After visiting the centre with schools, colleges etc many leaders want the chance to let their hair down and have fun taking part in the activities themselves without the concern of looking after a group.

  • Special events: Every now and then we organise a social get together with a challenge. Our last event was the Welsh 3 Peaks challenge. Instructors from the centre along with some teachers from Wolverhampton pushed themselves to the limit by climbing Wales' 3 highest peaks all within 24 hours.
